Patrick Shine Esq.(Left)

Judge Advocate

Patrick was born into a military family in Florida, with his father on active service when he was a child.  After graduating from law school, Patrick and his husband Nathan decided they wanted to live in Chicago.

Being from a military family also instills a sense of duty and service. Acting on his sense of duty and service he enlisted in the Air Force, where he worked as an intelligence analyst.

Patrick’s Air Force career was cut short by the unfortunate “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy the military adopted for gay service men and women. The policy was unjust and has since been repealed. Patrick came out as gay while serving, leading to his discharge under the policy.

Rather than let his "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” discharge discourage him, he went on to attend the University of Central Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Pre-law.
